Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of topograph (topograph.app). By using topograph, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
The service
topograph is a web-based tool for generating topographic contour maps using real elevation data or procedural terrain generation. It offers a free preview tier and a paid Pro tier with export capabilities.
Free tier
The free tier allows you to create and preview maps without charge, and includes a one-click watermarked PNG export (72 DPI, capped at 1500 px) for personal evaluation and non-commercial purposes. Clean (unwatermarked) export at full resolution, the other file formats, and commercial use require a Pro license.
Pro license
A topograph Pro license costs $49 as a one-time payment. This grants you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to:
- Generate and export maps in all available formats (SVG, PNG, TIFF, PDF, GeoJSON, DXF, Heightmap, STL)
- Export at any supported resolution (up to 600 DPI)
- Use exported maps for personal and commercial projects
- Modify, adapt, and incorporate exported maps into your own work
- Use the variant gallery and batch export features
Your license is tied to your purchase email and covers one user. Attribution is appreciated but not required.
What you may not do
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the topograph tool itself
- Use automated scripts to scrape, batch-process, or abuse the service
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code
- Share a single Pro license across multiple users or devices belonging to different people
- Use the service to create competing products or services
- Circumvent any access restrictions or security measures
Payment and refunds
Payments are processed securely by Stripe. The Pro license is a one-time purchase of $49.
Because topograph is a digital product with immediate access upon purchase, sales are final and we do not offer discretionary refunds — except where consumer law provides otherwise.
EU and UK consumers: you have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for digital content, which is lost when delivery begins with your express consent. When buying from the EU or UK, checkout asks for that express consent to immediate delivery together with your acknowledgment that you thereby lose the withdrawal right. Nothing in these terms limits statutory rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
If you experience a technical issue that prevents you from using the service, contact us at [email protected] and we will work to resolve it.
Elevation data
Topographic data is sourced from publicly available elevation datasets — AWS Terrain Tiles (Mapzen Terrarium), derived from NASA SRTM, USGS GMTED2010/3DEP, NOAA ETOPO1, Copernicus EU-DEM and other public sources. Some of these sources require attribution; topograph embeds the required attribution in export metadata and in the optional map legend. topograph does not claim ownership of underlying elevation data.
Maps you create are your own work. topograph does not apply any license to your exports — if you want your map published under a specific license (for example CC-BY-4.0), that choice is yours to declare.
Availability and changes
We aim to keep topograph available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may update, modify, or discontinue features at any time. Pro license holders retain access to export functionality for the lifetime of the service.
Limitation of liability
topograph is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or suitable for any particular purpose.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, topograph shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service ($0 for free users, $49 for Pro users).
License termination
topograph has no user accounts — your license is your purchase email. We reserve the right to revoke licenses that violate these terms. You may request deletion of your purchase record at any time by contacting us at [email protected] (note that deletion permanently disables license restore).
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of topograph after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
